Before instaling the Windows 8 Developer Preview onto my laptop I first tried installing it into a virtual machine.
It was doing this install which introduced me to the “user friendly” BSOD;

did you know that windows 8 developer/consumer preview doesn’t work on windows virtual PC?
That’s where I got the error message.
I’d have preferred it though if Microsoft had corrected this with a service pack to WVPC between the Dev and Consumer previews.
