Rewrite domain on Linux hosting to redirect one domain to another

Linux HostingI transitioned from a Windows based host to a Linux based one last year when I changed web host. I had a reasonable understanding of redirecting one domain to another on the Windows host, but am now having to learn how to do it on Linux hosting.

I’ve tried doing it through the front-end cPanel controls, but find that it enver works. The most recent one I;’ve tried setting up, I spoke to the support team and they gave me the .htaccess settings for the redirect.

I am posting it here so that I can easily find it in future.

I was wanting a redirect from https://dev.azrcrv.co.uk/ to https://development.azurecurve.co.uk/ to make short URLs available (or at least shorter URLs available). The below needs to be added to the .htaccess of the website on the domain you want to redirect:

#Redirect from old domain to new domain
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule (.*) https://development.azurecurve.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

Replace the highlighted domain with the one you want to redirect.

GP Table Reference Navigation Updated

GP Table ReferenceI’ve been a bit busy recently and so updated to the GP Table Reference site have lagged a little more than intended.

However, I have made two changes this weekend:

  1. Technical Groups have been removed from the navigation – these seemed to be confusing some people, especially the “No Table Group” ones.
I will be looking at navigation again in future, so if there is any particular functionality you might want, please get in touch and let me know.
  2. Table order has been updated so they are displayed in Physical Name order.

I am open to making changes to the site which will improve the usability or accuracy, so if there is anything you feel will be an improvement, please let me know.

Short URLs Available on Microsoft Dynamics GP Table Reference

Microsoft Dynamics GP Table ReferenceI have deployed my URL Shortener plugin on the Microsoft Dynamics GP Table Reference site which should assist you in locating the page for a table when you already know the table’s physical name.

If, for example, you wanted to view the page for PM Key Master File (PM00400) you would, without the URL shortener, have to type the full page string:

http://gptables.azurecurve.co.uk/products/microsoft-dynamics-gp-0/purchasing/payables-key-master-logical-file/pm-key-master-file-pm00400/

With the URL shortener, all you need is the table name:

http://gpt.azrcrv.co.uk/pm00400

To load the page for the table you want (and this is for any of the GP tables on the site), just type gpt.azrcrv.co.uk/ followed by the table name you want to see.

I know they’re not the shortest URLs in the world, but they should be a big help for viewing the tables when you know the table name and want field information.
