Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release: Web Client prerequisites

Microsoft Dynamics GPThis post is part of the Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release series where I am going hands on with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. Over the next few posts, I’ll be stepping through the installation of the Microsoft Dynamics GP web client.

Before we start on the installation of the web client components themselves, we need to sort out the prerequisites. These prerequisites are all around the Windows feature if Internet Information Services (IIS). As the installation sand configuration of these is the same as 2018 RTM, I am linking back to the three relevant posts I have previously published:

  1. Install Internet Information Services
  2. Create Self Signed SSL Certificate
  3. Bind SSL Certificate to IIS Web Site

In addition you need to create and assign two domain groups:

  1. Web Client Users group which should be assigned to the users who will log into the web client.
  2. Web Client Administrators group which should be assigned to the users who administer the web client.

Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release: Integration Manager prerequisites

Microsoft Dynamics GPThis post is part of the Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release series where I am going hands on with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. In this post, I’m going to take a quick look at the prerequisites for Integration Manager.

Integration Manager has two adaptors available for integrating data into Microsoft Dynamics GP.

The first adaptor is the Microsoft Dynamics GP one which requires you to have the Dynamics GP client open and logged into the company into which you want to integrate data.

The second adaptor is the eConnect one; this requires eConnect to be installed, although it doesn’t need the Incomging/Outgoing queues installed within eConnect which is different to the earlier post on installing eConnect; it also does not require Dynamics GP installed.

Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release: Configure eConnect

Microsoft Dynamics GPThis post is part of the Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release series where I am going hands on with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. With eConnect installed, we can now configure the Incoming Queue; I always do this as I have a number of clients using eConnect in this mode.

As the configuration required hasn’t changed, I’m going to link back to the three posts I did when Dynamics GP 2018 RTM was released:

  1. Configure eConnect Service
  2. Configure eConnect Incoming Queue
  3. Set eConnect Incoming Queue Permissions

Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release: eConnect prerequisites

Microsoft Dynamics GPThis post is part of the Hands On with Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2019 Release series where I am going hands on with the new version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. One of the main integration tools used with Microsoft Dynamics GP is eConnect; however, before eConnect can be installed, there are two prerequisites which need to be installed.

I’ve posted about these prerequisites before, so I’ll link back to the original posts; the version of Windows Server may have changed, but the process is the same.

The first prerequisite, is to set the service account as a local administrator on the server. Without doing this, the eConnect services will not start correctly.

Secondly, you need to install the MSMQ Triggers Windows feature. Without this, the Incomging/Outgoing eConnect queues cannot be installed.

Once these two prerequisites are met, you’ll be ready to install eConnect on the server.
