This is the series index for implementing Jet Professional which is the top tier of the software and suitable for businesses with more complex financial and non-financial reporting requirements. It also allows the creation of dashboards and plugging in of other software into the cubes for reporting; this includes PowerBI and other BI software.

Implementing Jet Professional: Assigning Designers

With Jet Professional installed and users added as viewers, Jet Professional can be used for reporting, as I showed in the post on the sample reports. However, no reports can be designed until the organisation has assigned designer licences in the Jet Reports Licensing Portal.

When your organisation signed up with Jet Reports, one user will have been created as a an administrator who has access to the licensing portal; this user can create additional administrators for this organisation as well as creating designers.

To create a designer, navigate to the Jet Reports Licensing Portal‘> and log in using the email address/Microsoft ID of an administrator account.

When you log in, you’ll be presented with the License List:

Implementing Jet Professional: Sample Reports

Jet Reports have made a number of sample reports for Microsoft Dynamics GP available for download. Navigate to the page, and click on the Microsoft Dynamics GP Report Templates image:

On the next page, enter your details and click the Access Resource button.

The download contains sample reports for both Jet Professional and Jet Enterprise; only the former are usable with Jet Professional.

Implementing Jet Professional: Client Installation

With the Jet Professional server components installed and configured, the next step is to install the Jet Professional client component.

Start the setup utility and enter the Activation Code received from Jet Reports when your order was processed. Click Next to proceed:

Implementing Jet Professional: Server Configuration

Implementing Jet Professional: Server Installation

While Jet Express is a client only installation, there is an optional server component which can be installed for Jet professional; this is the Service Tier which allows for the sharing of Microsoft Dynamics GP connections. For this series, I am going to be installing the Service Tier.

Before installing Jet Professional, you need to purchase a licence through your Microsoft Dynamics GP partner.

Implementing Jet Professional: Prerequisites

Over the last couple of posts, I’ve been taking a look at Jet Express, which is the lowest tier of Jet Reports. The next tier, is Jet Professional, formerly known as Jet Essentials, which is a much more flexible and capable reporting tool.

Before installing Jet Professional, there are some prerequisites for both the server and client components:

  • Database Connection
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP version 9 or later
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later**
    • OLE or ODBC compliant database
  • Excel Addin
    • Prerequisites

    • Hardware (minimum)

      • Processor: 1.4GH
      • RAM: 2GB
      • Disk space: 2GB
    • Operating System

      • Microsoft Windows Server 2016
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2
      • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2
      • Microsoft Windows 10
      • Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1
      • Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
      • Microsoft Windows Vista SP2
    • Microsoft Office

      • Microsoft Office 365 (2013-2016 Desktop Edition Only)**

      • Microsoft Office 2007
  • * Jet Reports recommends that only one installation of MS Office be present. Jet Reports cannot support installations where multiple copies of MS Office are installed.
    ** Includes both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, if applicable.

Implementing Jet Express: Sample Reports for Jet Express

There are a number of reports available from Jet Reports. These can be used to form the basis of yuor financial reporting in Jet Express and are available by installing the Report Player:

Implementing Jet Express: Installation

Jet ReportsThis post is part of a series of posts on implementing Jet Reports and is part of the Jet Express sub-series.

Once you have ensured the prerequisites are met and have downloaded the software, Jet Express for Microsoft Excel with Microsoft Dynamics GP can be installed.

To launch the installer, double click the Jet Express Setup.exe. Click Install to start the installation:
