Only users who have been defined as approvers can have documents submitted to them for approvers in the non-Workflow Invoice Approval function. To create approvers, go to the Approvers Configuration window ().
Existing users who have been added will be shown in the scrolling window; to add a new approver click the lookup button next to the User field:

To use the non-Workflow based Invoice Approvals function, there is some configuration which needs to be completed via the PurhcasingPortal Setup window ().
The Invoices are Pre-Approved checkbox needs to be marked which enables the Invoice Approval function within Payables Management.
The list of rejection Reasons can be defined; this is a drop down list which is displayed to approvers in the portal allowing them to select why the invoice has been rejected:

PurchaseHQ includes a non-Workflow based Payables Invoice approval system. This adds extra functionality to the Payables Transaction Entry window for users to submit an invoice for approval and has an approval section in the portal.
This approval module pre-dates the standard Microsoft Dynamics GP Workflow approval, but is still used by some customers as it offers a degree of flexibility not present in Workflow. In brief, the Invoice Approvals works by the user selecting the users who will perform the approval at the submit stage; in Workflow, the approval routes would be predefined and not allow any variation based on these routes. For some customers this is too inflexible, so the Invoice Approvals functionality allows them to select the approver at point of entry.
The selected users can then do the approval through the portal in the same way as if it was a Workflow approval; Invoice Approvals allows for the user to specify if all approvers, the majority or only one must approve.

As well as entering purchase orders, PurchaseHQ allows you to receive goods. When logged in as a purchasing transaction user, the Receiving Tile will show the purchase orders which are awaiting receipt.

The issue dates back a while, but may still be relevant to people using Management Reporter. A client, unbeknown to me, decided to move Management Reporter to a new server; they’d been having HDD capacity problems on the existing SQL Server.
They’d migrated the databases and installed the services, correctly configuring the Legacy Connector, but were receiving an error:
The operation could not be completed due to a failure on the server
The problem is that there are a few tasks which need to be undertaken when moving Management Reporter to a new server, including an encryption key which needs to be set. These are covered in this Microsoft Support article which includes, amongst other things, a script to run.
I was creating a new Microsoft Dynamics GP test environment the day when I encountered a problem at the point of deploying the Fabrikam sample company.
I did a quick search and found a blog I wrote over six years ago where I got this message and tracked it down to a corrupt installation of the GP 9 server components. Well, server components no longer exist as a separate thing, but it was possible something had happened to the install.
However, after uninstalling and reinstalling the problem still occurred:

Install of database SMTWO failed! Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities will now shut down.
This environment is using a shared SQL Server, so I’m using SMTWO as the database name for Fabrikam rather than the standard TWO, but I have used alternative names many times without issue.
I am aware that you can’t use reserved words for database names; this is not a Dynamics GP restriction, but rather a SQL one itself. I also tried SOTWO and got the same error and neither of these appear to be reserved names.
When I tried TWOSM, the install went through and worked without any problem, so there is obviously some sort of problem related to the two names I tried.
