Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Configure Web Components

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

Once the Web Client install has been completed, there are two pop-ups which appear.

The first of these is the Microsoft Dynamics GP Web Components Configuration Wizard. Click the window to make it active and then click Next to move from the Welcome step:

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Install Web Client Single-Machine Deployment

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

Now that the Web Client Runtime feature has been added, we can install the web client itself. I am only doing a single-machine deployment of the web client in this series of posts.

To install the Web Client, launch the setup utility and, under Additional Products select Web Client:

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Add Web Client Runtime

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

The next seven posts almost constitute a series within a series, as they all focus on the GP 2016 R2 web client. In this post, I’m going to install the Web Client Runtime.

I could have installed this when I installed the client, but opted to handle it serparately as not all clients will require this feature; only those which will be web client Session Hosts.

To add the Web Client Runtime feature to your client, open the Programs and Features control panel applet (quickest way is Win+R and typing appwiz.cpl. Select Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 in the list and click the Change button.

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Integration Manager First Run

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

The first time you run Integration Manager after installation, you need to right click and Run as Administrator. This makes sure that all of the relevant registry entries are created:

With eConnect installed I can now install Integration Manager with both sets of adapters (Dynamics GP and eConnect).

To do this launch the setup utility from the installation media and, under Additional Products click on Integration Manager:

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Install eConnect

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

The first of the companion products I am going to install, is eConnect. This one needs to go first as Integration Manager requires it to be installed if you want to install the eConnect Adapters.

Before you can install eConnect, you need to have added the MSMQ Triggers Windows Feature.

Run the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 Setup Utility from the installation media and, under Additional Products, click on eConnect:

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2: Install Dynamics GP Client

Microsoft Dynamics GPWith the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 it’s time for a series of “hands on” posts where I go through the installation of all of it’s components; the index for this series can be found here.

In this, the first post of the series, I’m going to install the Dynamics GP client. In early versions of Microsoft Dynamics GP, we would have installed the server components, but these haven’t existed for a long time. Instead, the client itself is used to create the server objects (we’ll cover these in the next posts).

When installing Dynamics GP on a new machine, the first components to be installed are the prerequisites, which are installed by the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 Bootstrapper Setup utility. Run this by launching the setup.exe from the installation media and click install:
