MS Connect Suggestion Sunday: Return PO Number To Requisition Creator

Microsoft Dynamics GPAs the first steps of the replacement of Business Portal, Microsoft introduced purchase requisitions and Workflow 2.0 in Microsoft Dynamics GP. I think both of these are great additions to Dynamics GP, but there is a little disconnect between purchase requisitions and purchase orders.

The issue is that there is no easy out-of-the-box way of notifying the user who created a purchase requisition when it is converted into a purchase order.

Well, SMikeG has posted on MS Connect suggesting that Workflow 2.0 be enhanced to allow the purchase order number to be returned to the user who created the purchase requisition when it is converted into a purchase order. This would allow the user to know that the purchase order has been created from the purchase requisition and is to be sent to the vendor.

The suggestion can be found here where you can also cast your vote.

Hands On With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 RTM: Web Services Service Verification

Microsoft Dynamics GPNow that Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 RTM is available, I thought I could follow my usual pattern of posting a series of posts on how to install and configure both Dynamics GP, but also the additional products which ship with it. You can find the series index for these posts here.

After installing and configuring the web services, I would always recommend verifying the install to ensure they are working correctly.

The first step, is to check the Windows Service is running; to do this open the Services control panel applet (which can also be accessed by using Win+R and typing services.msc).

Scroll down the list and find Microsoft Dynamics GP Service Host and make sure it is Running and set to Automatic:

Services

With the web client, installed and tested it’s time to move onto the next of the additional tools that come with Dynamics GP 2015. As I intend to make use of the Workflow 2.0 I need to have the web services installed to be able to make use of the email actions.

So the next five posts will look at the installation and configuration of the web services. To begin the installation of the web services, open the setup utility and select :

Over the last few posts, I have walked through the install and configuration of the Dynamics GP web client. Now it’s time to log into the web client for the first time.

Open Internet Explorer, or you web browser of choice which can be extended with Silverlight, and navigate to http://{address}/GP where {address} is the name or address of the web server running the Session Central Service (in my case the machine is called PI-GP.

When the page loaded, enter your Windows Domain User Name and Password:

MS Connect Suggestion Sunday: Navigation List Doesn’t Allow Sales Documents Printing In Currency

Microsoft Dynamics GPThis recently came up at a newly implemented client who makes extensive use of the Sales Order Processing module and sells across the world. Some of the sales orders and invoices printed off were coming off in the originating company and others in the functional.

We discussed with the users how the documents were being printed and established that some users were printing from the Sales Transaction Entry window, others from Print Sales Documents and others were using the Sales Order Transactions navigation list.

The documents printed through the navigation list were the ones which were always in the functional currency. The reason is that Sales Transaction Entry and Print Sales Documents have an option to select the Currency to Print whereas the navigation list print button doesn’t.

To remedy this, I have created an MS Connect suggestion to have the Currency to Print added to the print dialog on the navigation list which I would appreciate people voting for:
