How To Install Connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP – Prerequisites

Over the last two or three weeks I’ve been doing a series of posts on how to install the Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics (prerequisites, installation, configuration, verification , security configuration, Management Tools installation and Management Tools configuration) leading up to this series of posts on how to install the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP in order to link Microsoft Dynamics GP with Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP is the major prerequisite for installing the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics.

I am using the same Hyper-V test environment to install the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP as I did in the Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP with the addition of a CRM server;

• AZC-DC1 – Domain Controller;
• AZC-SQL1 – SQL Server running SQL Server 2008 R2 and hosting the MIcrosoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2, CRM 2011 and Management Reporter 2012, and SSRS databases;
• AZC-RPT1 – Reporting Server running SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 (this server also runs Management Reporter 2012 Server);
• AZC-INT1 – Integration Server which will host the GP Web Services;
• AZC-TS1 – Terminal Server;
• AZC-CRM1 – CRM server.

I am going to be installing Connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP on the Integration Server (AZC-INT1) which is where the Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP was installed so the prerequisites are already installed.

However, if you’re installing it on a different server the prerequisites are:

• Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, or Windows Server 2008 R2;
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0;
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2008 R2 (if GP SP3 is being used SQL Server 2012 can be used);
• A valid subscription to Microsoft Dynamics CRM online or an up to date on-premise deployment of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011;
• Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM ust use the same install language;
• Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM ust use the same functional or base currency.

You will also require a non-administrator Domain User account for use as the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Integration account (I have created one called DynamicsConnector).

Connector for Microsoft Dynamics GP is available at no extra charge for customers using both Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM but needs to be ordered by a Microsoft partner via Order Central, within PartnerSource, to obtain a Registration License Key.

This how to guide was done using Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 but the steps all apply to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 SP3. There are, currently, six planned posts in the series which will be published over the next couple of weeks.
